BANDUNG: Volcanic-ash rain sourced from Merapi Mountain’s eruption is spreading to several districts in West Java as Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Garut, Sumedang, Bandung Capital Town, dan Bandung District.
Ani Hanifah, a data and information staff of Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG) at first-Class Geophysics Station Bandung, revealed that the spreading of ash has reached several areas because of high-speed wind.
“The ash may be carried by high-speed wind to be able reach some areas of West Java, even goes to Bandung City,” she confirmed today.
According to Ani, the wind speed at rainy season is stood around 5km/hour to 45km/hour and the wind’s direction is from the southeast towards the southwest Indonesia.
In fact, as Ani informed, wind will be faster if reaching above the altitude of 3,000 feets. Thus, the ash eruption of Merapi which is also above 3,000 feet will most likely spread to other areas.
According to Bisnis's observation, the volcanic ash rain has begun to be suffered for two days ago. Even, most people of Bandung have felt the rain today.
Dewi Santi, one of Bandung’s residents, said that the ash pollutes her house, such as roof and veranda. "The car does too," he added.(t01/wiw)

I will called up mom sometime today and ask her how is it in Bandung. I heard that all activity is going well as usual. It's just the 'jerebu' and 'habuk' forcing people in Bandung to wear mask and suffer from view distraction of the jerebu.
I saw the news yesterday nite that all Malaysian students studying in Yogyakarta have been evacuated to Solo Airport, waiting for flight to Malaysia asap. But yesterday was no flight in and out Solo. But I know Solo is safe, it's just the ashes from the Mount that pollute the city.
Hope everything goes back to normal soon. This is a natural disaster and we, human, can only pray to the Al-Mighty and try our best to help the victims.
